A gardener's native plant database.

Most native plant tools are built by conservation groups to help wildlife. That's a good mission — but it means they answer the question "what feeds birds?" when a gardener is asking "what will actually look good in my yard, survive my soil, and not need watering?" Native Garden Guide answers the gardener's question first.

Where the data comes from

Native ranges are built on the public-domain USDA PLANTS Database, the authoritative source for which species occur where. On top of that distribution backbone we add the attributes gardeners actually filter on — sun, water, mature size, bloom season, deer resistance, pollinator value — each hand-verified against horticultural and university extension sources. Every plant page lists its USDA symbol so you can trace it back.

What's here today

This is an early build: 61 verified species across 1 state to start, with a working plant finder. We're adding states, species, and tools (a lawn-replacement calculator and a bloom calendar are next) on a rolling basis. The data model is built to scale to every U.S. state.
